For some strange reason, the old “Web Army” called for a small game of Fris
bee catch at the UP Sunken Garden. What we didn’t know was that the two of us would be playing Ultimate with the regular players there.
Rico and I then joined the game after being invited by Bryan, a regular every Saturday. I was pretty excited to play and redeem myself, after a humiliating performance in a game with some Claret Frisbee team members.
Let’s back track (or is it track back?) a little bit.
Earlier this week, Migs, a 2nd year Robotics and Frisbee team member invited me to play disc with them at, yes you guessed it, at the UP Sunken Garden. There were 6 of us so 3 played for each time. The last time I played disc was 6 months ago, so I was expecting a measly performance for that day. Well, I wasn’t wrong. After a number of wobbly throws and missed catches, the “golden receiver” (a title Ms. Rani gave me during our games last year) needed more practice.
Not to say that I didn’t have fun with the kids. They know the sport, and they could go a long way.
Ok, back to what happened today.
To cut it short, our team won. After helping out with a couple of goals (one was a receive and the other was a throw to the receiver) and some successful throws and catches, it felt that the “golden receiver” was back on track. Well, I didn’t actually “shine” on the field: there were BETTER players there, so it was really nice playing with them.We had players from UP, Ateneo and La Salle. We also had graduates and high school students and everybody played their best.
The bunch always play there every Saturday morning and they told me it’s ok to bring more folks. So I’m extending the invitation to you guys: who wants to play some discs every Saturday? If there are too many players, I guess that the field is big enough for two games to be played simultaneously.
Interested? Just leave a comment so I know who’s coming. This time, please be sure!
Before I end, here are some pics: first batch is my game with the Claretians, the next one has some shots of today’s game and the last is an old photo of my October game taken by Gerard TeaƱo.
See ya!
PS: The first photo was taken today and the second one was taken last Monday.
